09 February 2026, MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA – Philippine Consul General Jesus R. S. Domingo, assisted by Consuls Ralph Vincent C. Abarquez and Jan Sherwin P. Wenceslao, received a courtesy call from members of the Munting Lakbay Playgroup on 9 February 2026 at the Philippine Consulate General in Melbourne.
Munting Lakbay (Little Adventure) is a Filipino-led playgroup based in Melton, Victoria, established to provide a safe and welcoming space where children of Filipino heritage and their families can learn, play, and grow together while celebrating Filipino culture. The group promotes play-based learning for toddlers and young children through Filipino songs, stories, and cultural activities, while fostering community connection among parents and carers in Melbourne’s western suburbs.
During the meeting, the parties discussed potential areas of collaboration aimed at strengthening Filipino cultural engagement among children and youth. These included possible joint activities in connection with key observances such as International Children’s Day, Philippine National Children’s Month, Linggo ng Wika, and other community-based events. The discussion also explored outreach initiatives in the western suburbs.
The Consulate General views engagement with groups such as Munting Lakbay as an important component of its Volunteer Ambassadors (VAMBA) Program under the Diplomatic-Academic-Commercial Community of Practice (DACOP) framework. Through this network, the Consulate seeks to extend its reach within the Filipino diaspora and promote cultural awareness and youth engagement.
