Melbourne PCG Holds Familiarization Meeting with Australian Department of Home Affairs (Victoria) to Strengthen Community Engagement and Coordination

12 February 2026, MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA – Philippine Consul General Jesus R. S. Domingo, assisted by Consuls Ralph Vincent C. Abarquez and Jan Sherwin P. Wenceslao, met with Director Niall Walsh and Mr. Al Noveloso, Community Liaison Officer of the Australian Department of Home Affairs (Victoria), at the Philippine Consulate General in Melbourne.

The meeting served as a familiarization call aimed at strengthening consultation pathways, enhancing coordination, and exchanging views on areas of mutual interest affecting the Filipino community in Victoria.

During the discussion, both sides discussed practical ways to improve communication and referral pathways in matters concerning Filipino nationals, particularly in relation to immigration status, community welfare concerns, and travel and border processes. The meeting also highlighted the growing profile of Filipino-Australian youth and second-generation Filipinos in Victoria and the importance of engaging this cohort through modern and inclusive channels.

The Philippine Consulate General in Melbourne remains committed to strengthening cooperation with Australian counterparts to support the welfare, integration, and engagement of Filipinos across Victoria, South Australia, and Tasmania.
