DELEGATION FROM THE CONGRESSIONAL COMMISSION ON EDUCATION 2 (EDCOM II) VISITS MELBOURNE PCG TO EXPLORE POSSIBLE LESSONS FROM THE AU EDUCATION SYSTEM

02 May 2023, MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA – The Philippine Consulate General in Melbourne, led by Consul General Maria Lourdes M. Salcedo, met with a 24-member delegation from the Second Congressional Commission on Education 2 (EDCOM II) at the Consulate General on 02 May 2023. The delegation, led by Senator Sherwin Gatchalian and Congressman Mark Go, was on a Learning Visit organized by the Philippine Business for Education (PBEd) with the support of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). The visit aimed to provide the delegation with valuable insights into the Australian education system, focusing on various aspects including education governance, teacher quality, assessment, early childhood education, higher education, technical-vocational training and lifelong learning.

During the courtesy call, the Consul General briefed the delegation on the Filipino community in Victoria, as well as the commitment of both countries to enhance educational partnerships, as outlined in the Philippines-Australia Action Plan 2021-2022. The Consulate General facilitated meetings between the delegation and key Australian education organizations, further strengthening educational cooperation and collaboration between the two countries.
