CANBERRA 11 March 2020 – The much-anticipated Melbourne Food and Wine Festival will once again feature Filipino cuisine later this month.
Melbourne-based Filipino food and cultural advocacy group, Entrée.Pinay, organized three events to showcase the best of Filipino food, as well as well-known Filipino chefs in the ten-day international food festival. Entrée.Pinay first led the successful Barrio dining series at last year’s Melbourne Food and Wine Festival.
Cakes and Chikahan on 23 March will focus on Filipino desserts with Sydney-based author and food writer Yasmin Newman along with Grace Guinto of Entrée.Pinay, Hilton Sydney executive pastry chef Miko Aspiras and Chocolatier of Bibelot Head Santiago Cuyugan.
From 25 to 26 March, the Barrio Dinner Series will serve an exclusive menu made possible by the collaboration of guest chef JP Anglo, chef-owner of Manila-based Sarsa and Ross Magnaye of Melbourne’s Rice Paper Sister. The event is expected to highlight Filipino food as enjoyed across the more than 7,000 islands of the Philippines.
Pinoy streetfood will be the star of the show at the Barrio Laneway Fiesta to be held on 29 March. The sold-out event will present Lechon Diva Dedet de La Fuente, internationally-acclaimed chef John Rivera, Joel Baylon of Shobosho in Adelaide, head chef Migo Razon of DoubleTree by Hilton Melbourne and Katrina Villegas of Boba Bar, Melbourne.
