Filipino-Australian MP Recognizes Philippine Independence Day in South Australian Parliament

18 June 2026, ADELAIDE, SOUTH AUSTRALIA – The Philippine Consulate General in Melbourne welcomed the initiative of Mr. Matthew Marozzi MP, Member for Morialta in the Parliament of South Australia, in recognizing Philippine Independence Day and acknowledging the contributions of the Filipino community in South Australia.

Mr. Marozzi, who is of Filipino heritage, brought forward the motion following his meeting with Consul General Jesus S. Domingo during the Philippine Independence Day reception at Parliament House in Adelaide on 17 June 2026.

In his engagement with the Consulate General, Mr. Marozzi expressed pride in the contributions of Filipino-Australians to South Australia and his hope that his election would encourage greater Filipino-Australian participation in leadership, public service, and civic life.

Consul General Domingo welcomed the gesture as a meaningful recognition of the Filipino community’s growing role in South Australia’s multicultural and public life, and as another reflection of the strong people-to-people ties underpinning the Philippines-Australia Strategic Partnership.
