On 05 February 2025, Melbourne City Council officials were given an in-depth tour of the Victoria International Container Terminal (VICT), a Philippine investment in Victoria that showcases cutting-edge technology and leadership in Australia’s port services. VICT is a subsidiary of the Enrique Razon-led International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI) and is one of 32 international container terminals developed and operated by the conglomerate across 19 countries. VICT operates the only fully automated container terminal in the Southern Hemisphere.

The delegation was received by Mr. Marco Quaranta, Communications and Sustainability Manager of VICT, who provided information into the facility’s innovative technologies, operational efficiency, and sustainability efforts. Discussions also covered greater engagement between VICT and local communities, particularly in relation to VICT’s Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and smart technology initiatives and their potential applications for traffic management, waste management, and logistics in the City of Melbourne. VICT officials also expressed their openness to further collaboration on water-related projects and green technologies, particularly in partnership with the Melbourne City Council.
