PINOY KIDS, VLOGGERS JOIN ONLINE CELEBRATION OF BACOLOD’S MASSKARA FESTIVAL

PR-024-2021

Filipino-Australian vloggers and children in Melbourne joined the special Fiesta Filipinas episode last October 29 featuring the Masskara festival of Bacolod City.

Fiesta Filipinas is a continuing series of online events organized to promote Filipino culture and tourism to the global audience.

This special episode resulted from the overwhelmingly positive and encouraging feedback from previous participants in the previous Fiesta Filipinas events, according to the Philippine Consulate in Melbourne.

The Consulate also noted “the creativity and ingenuity” of Filipino-Australians in using the virtual experience of celebrating the Philippines’ festivals to sustain tourism promotion and social connectivity despite the pandemic.

Fiesta Filipinas is a joint cultural diplomacy initiative of the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines, the Department of Tourism, and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts to help create awareness of Philippine festivals and other tourist attractions while travel remains at a standstill due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Consulate specifically recruited Filipino kids in Melbourne for them to better appreciate their Philippine cultural heritage through the virtual experience.

Filipino vloggers Princess Ann Melchor, and Rosa Balderas were also invited to participate and share their online Fiesta Filipinas experience to their followers.
