PR-03-2022

The Philippine Consulate in Melbourne supported the short film entry of Keshilyn Sacdalan, a young Filipino filmmaker and director, and co-produced by Thomas Dwija, to the Melbourne Women’s Film Festival.

The screening of the short film entitled “Aswang” was held at Hoyts Cinema in Melbourne Central on 12 February 2022.

The film was inspired by Filipino folklore and is about a pregnant Filipina, Luisa, who finds herself in a dilemma due to her husband Jake’s indifference towards her pregnancy. As Luisa gathers courage to face her husband, a sinister creature lurks in the background.

The Philippine Consulate General in Melbourne encourages young Filipino artists and creative minds to highlight Filipino culture and artistic expression within Australia and throughout the world.
