The Philippine Consulate General in Melbourne participated in the online Fiesta Filipinas Season 2 featuring Pahiyas, a cultural diplomacy initiative of the Department of Foreign Affairs, on 02 April 2022.
Among those who took part in the online Pahiyas were Melbourne City Councilor Gary Lee, journalists Roda Masinag of SBS and George Gregorio of The Philippine Times, restaurateur Elbert Estampador, two consular officers of the Indonesian Consulate General and members of the Filipino Community in Melbourne.

Fiesta Filipinas is a joint cultural diplomacy initiative of the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines, the Department of Tourism, and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts.
In this event, the participants experienced the Pahiyas Festival by virtual tour and joined the highlights of the live session including the cook-along of the pancit habhab of Quezon province, as if in the live audience but actually in the comfort and safety of the participants’ homes.

The Pahiyas festival of Lucban, Quezon is held in gratitude to the patron saint of farmers, Saint Isidore the Laborer (San Isidro Labrador), for a year of bountiful harvest, or ani in Filipino.

The Philippine Consulate General in Melbourne also invited two (2) Pinay vloggers namely Ms. Princess Ann Melchor and Ms. Rosa Almencion to participate and collaborate with their virtual experience.
