MOTHERS SHINE AT ILONGGO ASSOCIATION EVENT

It was a lovely evening for mothers and grandmothers. Patricia Gutierrez provided a warm welcome to more than 500 guests amidst the balmy Melbourne autumn evening. Ilonggo Association celebrated Mother’s Day with a dinner-dance after skipping the much-awaited event during the COVID lockdowns.

Eleven mothers/grandmothers were recognized and serenaded by guest singers and offered flower bouquets. In her remarks, Consul General Maria Lourdes Salcedo provided an inspirational message on the role of mothers and their unconditional love. She also announced that May 22 is now recognized as Philippines-Australia Friendship Day and mentioned the forthcoming national elections for both the Philippines and Australia She ended by singing a stanza from Ugoy ni Nanay.
