MELBOURNE PCG CELEBRATES BUWAN NG WIKA IN COLLABORATION WITH THE PHILIPPINE LANGUAGE SCHOOL THROUGH PHILIPPINE DANCE AND ON-THE-SPOT POSTER MAKING CONTEST

20 August 2022 – The Philippine Consulate General in Melbourne, in collaboration with the Philippine Language School of Victoria, Inc. celebrated Buwan ng Wika through Philippine Dance and an On-the-Spot Poster Making contest at Parish Hall 46 Ballarat Road, Maidstone 3012 on 20 August 2022.

Eight participants entered the on-the-spot poster making in two categories, Category 1 (secondary school age – 13 to 18 years of age) and Category 2 (adults – 19 years old and above), as well as a special category, with the theme: “Filipino at mga Katutubong Wika: Kasangkapan sa Pagtuklas at Paglikhâ”. participants were given an hour to draw their ideas based on the theme which were judged according to their creativity and presentation, originality and relevance to the theme.

The top winners of each category were awarded a Certificate from the Philippine Consulate General and a lino-cut artwork of the late Filipino artist Mr. Joel Magpayo, while the runner up also received a Certificate from the Philippine Consulate General, and a gift certificate.
